Former longtime Beach Boys' band members Bobby Figueroa (1974-90), Billy Hinsche (70s, 80s, 90s -- and founding member of 60s pop trio "Dino, Desi & Billy", Matt Jardine (80s-90s), Phillip Bardowell (toured for nearly a decade) and Ed Carter (1968-90s) take you on a musical journey featuring all the songs of the Beach Boys!  California Surf, Inc. features musicians who all have a long history of touring and recording as former band members of the legendary Beach Boys.

Principal members Bobby Figueroa (drums/vocals), Billy Hinsche (keyboards/guitar/vocals) and Ed Carter (guitar/bass/vocals) each has a distinctive career that includes performances with The Beach Boys at such iconic venues as The Hollywood Bowl, Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, Maple Leaf Gardens (Canada), Wembley Stadium (UK) and many other venues around the world including the Reagan White House. Members have performed at historic rock‘n’ roll celebrations including Live Aid, Farm Aid and other major events.

These fine players have consistently been involved with The Beach Boys’ live touring band throughout the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s and can be seen on many of the group’s televised performances such as Dick Clark’s Rockin’New Year’s Eve, MTV videos for “Still Cruisin’” and “Kokomo” and on The Beach Boys’ 25th Anniversary TV Special from Hawaii.  These veterans of surf-rock are considered by many to be the “A Team” band for their skills and ability to perform these fun yet intricate instrumental and vocal parts that are the hallmark of The Beach Boys’ sound.

Son of the legendary Gregg Allman!

Michael Allman is the 1st born son of Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member of the Allman Brothers, Gregg Allman. Michael’s bluesy soulful voice and look is very reminiscent of his father in his prime! Michael has shared the stage with many well-known artists through the years and continues to put smiles on the faces of his fans every time he gets on stage and starts belting out the sounds.

“Hard Labor Creek” - If Michael’s evocative singing was the only attraction on Michael Allman’s Hard Labor Creek, it would still be worth hearing, but there is a lot more going on than that. Some of the most gifted musicians in Georgia, from young slide guitar phenom Tony Tyler to Motown alumnus and keyboard legend Ike Stubblefield, contribute to the overall sound of this remarkable record. Tyler’s slide and keyboard work are an essential part of the sound of Hard Labor Creek, adding just the right touch without overpowering the song.

Stubblefield kicks serious butt here, showing why he is a first-call session player, and his production contribution is one reason this CD sounds so darn good. Soulful backing vocals by Atlanta local favorite Diane Durrett and percussion from Derek Trucks Band drummer Yonrico Scott flesh out the songs. The one and only Col. Bruce Hampton also makes a memorable cameo appearance. While Michael Allman’s Hard Labor Creek stands on its own merits, he isn’t ashamed of his heritage, and there are several references to his famous father. “Laid Back” written by Sonny Tackett, was inspired by Gregg’s classic album of the same name. “If Dreams Were Money” was actually written for Gregg years ago by veteran Boston musician Bruce Marshall.

Still, the spotlight is firmly on Michael, who wrote four of the songs on the CD, and delivers each tune with the kind of thoughtful approach that squeezes the inner meaning out of every word. The lyrics in songs like “Running Alone Again”, “It Ain’t Me” and “Circus Full of Clowns” address universal topics like love and loss in a way that any listener can relate to.

16 year old Mike Imbasciani to perform at this year's PODS Englewood Music Festival!

The festival is designed to showcase original artists and new talent.  Mike Imbasciani is one such talent who seems gifted from birth with an ear for great music and the ability to play the guitar like he’s been doing it all his life, which he pretty much has.    “I have been playing guitar since I was 5 years old.  My inspirations were Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, SRV, and Jimi Hendrix.  I love classic 60’s rock, folk, blues.  The blues seem to be part of me just waiting to get out every time I pick up a guitar”.

Mike started his career playing for the first time in public at the Punta Gorda Guitar Army at Gilchrist Park in Punta Gorda when he was 10 years old.  In 2008 he started performing professionally at many local establishments.  Since then he has expanded to include many festivals and venues around the state of Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.  Last September Mike Imbasciani and his band “The Bluez Rockerz” appeared at BB King’s Blues Club in Nashville for an entire week.
