Stéphanie Séjour known as Tifane is the present and future of Haitian and Worldly music. Making music her own, she finds influences from great names such as Yole Dérose, Emeline Michel, Anita Baker, Sade, India Arie, Billie Holiday and the like. After completing college in Illinois with a BA in Sociology (Criminal Justice), Tifane returned to Haiti, launched not only her singing career, but also utilizing her educational and professional background to empower the youth of Haiti. Since releasing herself written and composed album, known for its record selling single hit “Se Kòm Si”, she has been collaborating with some of the biggest names in Haitian music and performing worldwide. She is known for her inviting and captivating stage presence. 2005 “Revelation of the Year” award by Ticket Magazine. In 2006, she received the “Best Female artist of the Year” award from Ticket d'Or in Haiti. In the same year she was awarded “Best Female Artist of 2006” by the Haitian Entertainment Awards in New York, 2007 the “Honor and Merit Award” for her contribution to the World Vision’s research project "Discovery of Culture" in Hinche, Haiti, 2008, she receives the achievement award in Atlanta. 2009 Tifane is officially named Ambassador or the handicapped people for her contribution and her song for their cause. She is known as a powerful humanitarian for her country.
In her first album, Aprent, the listener is taken on a voyage of emotions. Tifane’ s diverse use of sounds and rhythms, complemented with poetic words are woven together to make an imprint on the hearts of listeners everywhere. Her eclectic rhythms express the sounds of the heart, social justice, empowerment and more. Haitian Movie Magazine (November 2007) describes her music as “breathing life into…the homogenous sounds of Haitian music”. Tifane, on the other hand has received numerous invitations from both Creole and none Creole speaking events around the world. In Serbia, Tifane received the “Best Vocalist” award of the Nisville Jazz Festival, and became the first Haitian artist to perform in this part of Serbia. She has touched North America, the French islands, Eastern Europe and Canada. These accomplishments are just the stepping stones to what Tifane plans to achieve in her career.
